Northampton wrapped the season up the season up comfortably and only lost three games throughout the 18 match campaign. Two of those losses came in the last four games, which included the loss to Leicester Tigers. In the final round, top spot was already secured and therefore with a rotated team, they lost by seven to Harlequins. The game was tight and with less than 15 minutes to go the Saints were winning by seven. They conceded two tries in the final 10 minutes to lose by seven.

Leicester Tigers managed to finish in fourth despite defeat in three of the final five games. Their three defeats in this time did come by nine or fewer points. In the last round they lost out to Bath by two points. Three of Bath’s four games came from close range with Thomas Du Toit scoring a hattrick.
