Rugby Union News today: Springboks and All Blacks squads announced, McParland talks and Northland Ranfurly Shield

The lineups are out for the first test between the Springboks and All Blacks

Both Dave Rennie and Rassie Erasmus have named their lineups to face off in the first test of the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry Tour which will see the Springboks welcome the All Blacks to Ellis Park.

The All Blacks have overcome their injury worries and all of Cam Roigard, Will Jordan and Damian McKenzie will start.

Josh Moorby claims the starting spot on the wing.

For the Springboks, Erasmus has left Thomas Du Toit out of the 23 altogether, while still backing Sacha Feinberg-Mngonezulu at 10. Mannie Libbok is on the bench.

Northland claim the Ranfurly Shield

Northland made history when they defeated Canterbury 36-12 at the One NZ Stadium to claim the Ranfurly Shield. It was the first time that Northland have held the shield since 1979, a 47 year wait.

Northland dominated the game from the 30 minute-mark on as Canterbury didn’t score another point and the new holders scored four tries and kicked a penalty.

McParland set for Saints talks

Archie McParland is set to begin talks with Northampton Saints over a new contract. The Saints are looking to tie down some of their star players down who go out of contract at the end of the season.
They have already made Tommy Freeman the highest paid winger in the Prem and will also start talks with Henry Pollock, who Eddie Hearn has said is worth a seven-figure salary.

McParland at just 21 has found himself in the England set-up and may now aim to get his England debut in the next year.
