Bath have confirmed Mike Prendergast as their new backs and attack coach, handing Johann van Graan a significant technical addition before the 2026/27 campaign.
The Premiership club announced that Prendergast will join from Munster, where he has spent the past four years working as attack coach. Bath’s own confirmation was brief but clear: the former Munster scrum-half is moving into a specialist role at Farleigh House as the club reshape their staff.
Why Bath Have Moved Now
Prendergast arrives with a CV that fits Bath’s immediate need for sharper attacking detail. Munster credited him with a central role in their 2022/23 URC title run, while also noting his previous coaching work in France with Racing 92, Stade Francais, Oyonnax and Grenoble.
That matters because Bath are not hiring a development voice. They are importing a coach used to building attacking frameworks across different leagues, cultures and playing styles.
The move also extends a familiar Munster-Bath thread. Van Graan’s staff has leaned heavily on Irish and South African influence, and Prendergast gives the group another coach with high-level European knowledge.
Prendergast Link Adds Extra Edge
Prendergast’s exit from Munster was confirmed in February, with the province describing him as a popular figure whose work had carried real weight inside the environment.
For Bath, this is a targeted appointment rather than a cosmetic one. Their 2026/27 attack now has a coach whose reputation is built on connection, tempo and phase detail.
