Geoff Parling has delivered the disappointing news that the out-half, Billy Searle, will likely miss the remainder of the season.
The hamstring injury came during a training session this week, where he was chasing down a kick.
Parling has, however, backed the experienced replacement James O’Connor to do the job for the period that Searle is out.
What does this mean for Leicester Tigers?
The announcement came in the build-up to the PREM clash with league leaders, Northampton Saints.
Leicester sit third in the table and net a set of positive results to hold onto their top four spot.
Searle was a key part of Leicester’s success so far this season, including winning the PREM Cup.
James O’Connor as a replacement for Leicester Tigers
James O’Connor comes in as a more than able replacement for Searle with the years of international experience he has in the role. He has recently been linked with a move back to Australia or the Sharks.
Parling, speaking about O’Connor said, “I’m just excited to have him step in.”
On O’Connor’s play style he commented, “ he has a calm, level head and likes to play with the ball.”
