Two-time Springbok World Cup winner set for shock Stormers move

Reports are growing in South Africa that two-time World Cup winner, Cheslin Kolbe will return to South Africa for next season to play for the Stormers.

Kolbe has been in Japan since 2023, when he left Toulon to play for the Suntory Sungoliath.

The financial impact of the move

SA Rugby Mag report that the deal is going to require a huge amount of financial backing from the Stormers and South African rugby.

“It’s definitely very, very close,” a source told Rapport.

The deal is set to require an external investor to make the deal happen.

Kolbe had recently signed an extension in Japan and therefore the external investment was required to buy the pacy winger out of his contract.
