Dave Rennie shares All Blacks injury update ahead of test two

Dave Rennie has spoken to the media with injury updates following the All Blacks’ famous 33-16 victory over the Springboks at Ellis Park. Unfortunately, there will be two All Blacks that will be unavailable through concussion injury, and also a further update on the injury that ruled out back-rower Anton Segner.

On Segner, “Nothing I can really share at the moment, he won’t be available this week.”

“He went into hospital for another checkup… I will be a bit clearer by tonight.”

“The two that came off (Ethan De Groot and Josh Lord)… concussion… they’ve been ruled out immediately, so they’re on a 12-day stand down. They’re actually both pretty good post-game.

What does this mean for Test 2?

Following the head collision between Ethan de Groot and Josh Lord, Tuipulotu moved into the lock position and acquitted himself very well with Simon Parker also having a strong performance off the bench. This could be an indicator with how Rennie will line up on Saturday for Test 2.

Sam Darry and Patrick Tuipulotu will play in the second row against the Lions and while they would be viable options to go alongside Fabian Holland, Rennie will reveal how he uses his substitutions in that game to tell us how he plans to manage the second row.

George Bower came from the bench for De Groot and will likely take on the number one jersey for the second test.
