Toulouse vs Racing 92 Top 14 semifinal preview as the sides meet at the Orange Velodrome.

Toulouse finished top of the regular season table with 18 wins from their 26 matches. They had taken such a strong lead in the table that three of those losses came in the last five games, as they had already secured top spot. This included a defeat to Racing 92 on the final day.

Racing 92 finished sixth in the table thanks to that win on the final day against Toulouse. They overcame Pau away from home to book their place in the semis.

Toulouse were so far ahead at the top of the table that their place in the top two and eventually top of the regular season table. They lost three of their last five games, including their only home loss of the season against Clermont. In the last match of the season, they played against Racing 92 and lost 31-20. They were just one point behind with 10 minutes to go, but a penalty and converted try allowed Racing to win by 11.

Racing 92 had won five of their final six games in the regular season, which allowed them to make it into the top six. In the first playoff round, they travelled to Pau, who had finished third in the regular season. The match was close and thrilling throughout. At halftime, they found themselves 17-16 behind, with 11 of their points coming from the boot of Antoine Gibert. In the second half, they scored two converted tries and kicked a penalty to take a comfortable 33-17 lead with 25 minutes to go. Pau would score two tries, but Racing were able to hold onto the ball without conceding in the final few minutes.

Toulouse have won eight of the last 10 meetings between the teams, although Racing’s two wins have come within the last three. The sides met in the final round of the regular season, but with rotation throughout the Toulouse team, Racing were able to come out in front.
