France XV vs England XV preview as the sides meet in a friendly match before they play in the Rugby Nations Championship this summer.
This will not be a capped fixture as neither side has all its players available to them. Northampton Saints and Exeter Chiefs players are still preparing for the PREM final, while the Top 14 is still at the semi-final stage.
France take on the All Blacks in their opener this summer, while England will take on South Africa. The fixture also sits alongside Borthwick’s England XV selection audition and Rassie Erasmus’ Springboks depth test as the summer schedule starts to sharpen.

France won four of their last five games, lifting the 2026 Six Nations title. After dominant performances against Ireland, Wales and Italy, the French team travelled to Murrayfield, where they were dominated by Scotland and, after a late flurry, still came up 10 points short. In the final game against England, the scoreboard swung backwards and forwards, and it took a last-play kick from Thomas Ramos to secure the win.

England had a very different Six Nations and had their worst campaign ever with only one win from their five matches. They looked in good shape after round one with a comfortable win against Wales, but failed to pick up any wins outside of that. In the final game against France, England looked a lot stronger and came only minutes away from a win in Paris. Thomas Ramos kicked a penalty in the final play to win by 2.
France* vs England* head-to-head record (last five matches):
| Date | Competition | Winner | Score |
| 14th March 2026 | Six Nations | France | 48-46 |
| 8th February 2025 | Six Nations | England | 26-25 |

| 11th March 2023 | Six Nations | France | 10-53 |
| 19th March 2022 | Six Nations | France | 25-13 |
France have won four of the last five meetings between France and England. England will only have two sides from their league not available for selection, while France will not be able to select from four sides. The last three matches between these nations has been decided by two points or less. Famously, a Thomas Ramos kick in the final moments of their most recent game secured France the Six Nations.
