Leinster fans have started a campaign on a fan forum to show incredible support for one of their local interpro rivals.

Leinster fans will be preparing for the Champions Cup final in Bilbao after they defeated Toulon in Dublin this weekend.

The European finals take place over Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd May in the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao. Ulster will play Montpellier in the Challenge Cup final on the Friday. Leinster will play Bordeaux in the Champions Cup final on the Saturday.

Fans will have the option to attend both finals, particularly those attending the Champions Cup final as there still tickets available for the Challenge Cup final.

How can Leinster fans support Ulster?

A Leinster fan going by the username ‘blockhead’ on a Leinster fan forum named Babbling ‘brook put the suggestion forward. The post called for Leinster fans to, “Stand up for the Ulstermen, in a white top”.

Ulster will be playing in their first European final since 2012, when they played in the Champions Cup final.

White, the home colour of Ulster, will stand out in comparison to the dark blue and navy of Montpellier. If Leinster fans arrived to watch the game in Leinster colours, it would look like they were in Montpellier colours.

Ulster and Leinster rivalry

The post also shared some of the history between the two provinces.

The teams met for the first-ever interpro derby in 1875.

The recent history has been dominated by Leinster, who won that European final in 2012, where the provinces met at Twickenham. As the anthem goes, it sounds like these rivals will be standing “shoulder-to-shoulder”.
