Eddie Hearn has claimed that “you are going to see” Henry Pollock everywhere, and the chances you will “probably be bored of him after a while.”

The claim came a few weeks after Pollock signed as part of Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Talent agency, along with Scotland superstar Finn Russell.

What did Eddie Hearn say about Henry Pollock?

Hearn told the media, “I’m going to make a huge difference to Henry’s profile. You’re going to see him everywhere. You’ll probably be bored of him after a while.”

Pollock was the second athlete signed to the Matchroom Talent Agency after UFC Fighter Tom Aspinall.

Hearn at the time of signing referred to Pollock as “special” and therefore wants to put his personality on the shop window for the big brands to see.

YouGov Survey results

YouGov carried out a survey on the recognition level of sports stars in the UK. Pollock is already one of the most recognisable faces in rugby with a 37% recognition rate. This is the same as the current best player in the world, Antoine Dupont. The only rugby player who is more recognisable than Pollock currently is Owen Farrell at 41%. The indication here is that performance at the moment is the main driver for recognition in rugby.

Henry Pollock is an incredible talent and has the potential to be one of the best players in the world. At the moment, the thing that gets him the most airtime is the extra bits that he brings to the game. His celebrations add something new,  while his flamboyance with the media is something that we haven’t seen a lot of in rugby.

The biggest contrast, however, comes comparatively to footballers. Jude Bellingham, who is an England star has a 71% recognition rate with the general public. 34% higher than Henry Pollock. Bellingham has never played in the Premier League.

This figure is something that Eddie Hearn will be looking to change. He will create more media and publicity opportunities in the future.
