Bath and Scotland star,  Finn Russell, has told fans to prepare for a PSG-Bayern style clash as Bath travel to reigning Champions Cup Champions, Bordeaux Begles.

The game could be a classic as both teams play with an attacking style and got to the semifinals by overcoming some of their biggest rivals.

The Bath 10 did admit in his interview with the Times that his side can’t just go “gung ho” in the game.

Players on show to give a treat of a tie

Bordeaux and Bath will bring some of the most exciting players to centre stage. This can be exemplified by their number 10’s Matthieu Jalibert and Finn Russell. The last time these two players met, was when Scotland hosted France in the Six Nations. While Scotland won it comfortably, the high scoring nature of the attacks run by these two left the scores 50-40 at full-time.

Jalibert is partnered by Maxime Lucu, one of the most impressive players in the competitions so far this year. Ben Spencer will partner Russell and the England international is an expert box kicker.

The key player for excitement on the pitch will be Louis Beille-Biarrey. The winger is lightning quick and can score out of nothing. He broke the record for most tries in a single Six Nations campaign in 2025 and then broke it again in 2026.

The PSG-Bayern parallels

PSG 5-4 Bayern Munich became an instant classic for everyone who loves to watch attacking football as the nine-goal thriller saw everything fans want to see. Bordeaux scored 30 or more points in each of the knockout rounds of this Champions Cup campaign. Bath have scored 30 or more points in each of the five games since the Six Nations. This high-scoring nature is the first of a number of similarities between the football and rugby sides.

PSG entered their semi-final as the reigning Champions League winners, Bordeaux enter this semi-final as the reigning Heineken Cup Champions.

The Bayern team are headlined by an overseas star in Harry Kane, while the away team in the rugby, Bath are headlined by Finn Russell of Scotland.

Bielle-Biarrey is the young attacking star for the French side, reminiscent of stars like Desire Doue for PSG, while Damian Penaud, the former Franch star who was left out of Six Nations selection this year, could remind fans of the journey of Ousmane Dembele.
