Bordeaux have returned to Top 14 action with two defeats, which leaves them in danger of missing the top six playoff positions. In the last round, they conceded a last-minute penalty to Montpellier to lose 23-21 at home. They had taken the lead with five minutes to go with a Maxime Lamothe try. Jefferson Poirot was sent off a few minutes later, which allowed Montpellier to come out on top.

Bath had been on a five game winning streak before the last round of the Prem, where they lost out to the Northampton Saints. This will give Bath some encouragement as they rest quite a few key members of their starting team. Both teams scored six tries in the game and Bath brought the game level at 77 minutes. Fin Smith kicked a winning penalty with the clock deep in the red.
