Union Bordeaux Bègles have made securing Louis Bielle-Biarrey’s future their top priority as the Top 14 season approaches its final stretch.

With just one year remaining on his current deal, the France international winger has emerged as a key focus for the club, who are keen to tie down one of their most valuable assets before rival interest intensifies.

Interest in Bielle-Biarrey Across the Top 14

From June, clubs will be able to open formal negotiations with Bielle-Biarrey, placing Bordeaux under immediate pressure to act.

While some sides appear unlikely to enter the race, RC Toulon could yet test Bordeaux’s resolve with a significant offer.

The winger’s rise over the past two seasons has made him one of the most sought-after backs in French rugby.

Despite that, Bordeaux remain confident.

Sources indicate that Bielle-Biarrey feels settled at the club, and early signs point towards a contract extension as the most likely outcome.

Salary Cap Creates Urgency

Any new deal, however, will need to fit within strict financial limits.

Bordeaux are currently operating close to the Top 14 salary cap, leaving little room for manoeuvre. Renewals for key players, including Maxime Lucu, add further pressure to balance the books.

Bielle-Biarrey is believed to earn around €350,000 per year, while senior figures such as Damian Penaud and Matthieu Jalibert command significantly higher salaries: €600k and €850k respectively.

To complete a new deal, the club may need to offload players or restructure contracts before the 2026/27 season.

Rapid Rise to the Top

Bielle-Biarrey’s development has been swift.

After starting out with RC Seyssins, he progressed through the ranks at FC Grenoble before making the move to Bordeaux as a teenager.

He broke into the senior side in early 2022 and immediately made an impact, including a standout hat-trick in European competition.

His form at club level translated quickly to the international stage.

He made his debut for France national rugby union team ahead of the 2023 Rugby World Cup and marked the occasion with a try.

Since then, he has developed into one of the most dangerous attacking players in the game.

Decision Expected Soon

Now regarded as one of the leading backline talents in world rugby, Bielle-Biarrey sits at the centre of Bordeaux’s long-term plans.

The club is pushing to finalise an agreement in the coming weeks, aware that any delay could open the door for rivals to step in.

Bordeaux sees securing Bielle-Biarrey not as a priority but as essential to their continued success.
