So Wales are now two wins from two. Italy were spirited in defence at times and got over the try line more than once in defeat.
Wales would have hoped for better a performance, however, with not too many obvious injuries and some decent individual performances, they will be happy enough.
Wales tried out a few new players and ground out a fairly routine win with some big games ahead.
Now the Welsh squad can head home and get some well-earned rest before a huge game with England on February 23.
Here’s how we rated the Welsh performance following the 26-15 win in Rome.
Liam Williams - 7
Pretty good in defence (out of position once), stylish one-handed pick up and provided an assist for Josh Adams’ try.
Jonah Holmes - 7
Came inside looking for breaks, good burst through in the second half.
Jonathan Davies - 6
First game as captain. Poor pass when the line was begging, good hands in the Adams try and had a try harshly ruled out in the second half.
Owen Watkin - 7
Good break out of defence in the first half, decent hands in the build-up to Adams’ try, got on the score sheet chasing Anscombe’s kick through.
Josh Adams - 7.5
A good game apart from a sliced kick in the first half. Several breaks, powerful running.
Dan Biggar - 6
A mixed bag. Solid from the tee, poor kicking out of hand apart from setting up an attacking five-metre line out. A good kick, chase and catch to set up a Wales attack in the first half.
Aled Davies - 7.5
Good quick distribution. Partially to blame for losing the ball when Wales had an attacking maul, redeemed himself with a blindside break.
Nicky Smith - 5
Under a bit of pressure at the scrum, one scrum lost where he may have been culpable. Was replaced on shortly after the hour.
Elliot Dee - 6
Lineout throw stolen in the second half, a good break early on and had one turnover conceded.
Samson Lee - 6
Decent carry early on but missed a couple of tackles.
Jake Ball - 6
Nothing dynamic, no glaring mistakes.
Adam Beard - 5.5
Spilt pass in a good attacking area, one good defensive turnover, missed a catch on an attacking lineout, gave away a penalty at the lineout. Safe hands to collect Italy’s penalty that rebounded off the post.
Aaron Wainright - 7.5
Put in a solid display. An interception, a good kick chase, good tackling and helped out with a lineout catch.
Thomas Young - 7.5
Solid tackling, turnovers, a disallowed try late in the second half, sucked in defensively for an Italian try, tried hard and on the whole was above average.
Josh Navidi - 7.5
Aggressive with his tackling, carries and a good kick chase in the first half.
Gareth Anscombe - 7
Came on early in the second half. Good kicking out of hand for the try and for territory with the outside of his boot.
Hallam Amos - 6.5
Came on around the 67th-minute mark. Solid, no mistakes.
Alun Wyn Jones - 7
Steadied the ship for Wales when he came on early in the second half.
Ross Moriarty - 5
Came on with little time remaining.
Dillon Lewis - 6.5
Entered in the 50th minute. Made a break in the lead up to a try.
Ryan Elias Wyn Jones - 6
Entered in the 61st minute, solid display.
