Scotland’s Richie Gray ruled out of summer tour

Scotland lock Richie Gray has been ruled out of Scotland’s summer tour after picking up a hip injury, according to a report on the Scotsman.

Gray missed the majority of Scotland’s Six Nations campaign this year after suffering a back problem but returned to participate in their last match against Italy.

Gregor Townsend had hoped that Gray would be fit for their tour of the Americas this summer and named him in his initial squad, however, after further assessment, it has been decided that he will withdraw from the squad.

The Toulouse man missed last year’s summer tour also and will be looking to get back to full fitness over the next couple of months.

Townsend’s side will come up against Canada, USA and Argentina next month, with their matches set to be shown live on the BBC and Channel 4.

Last year it was a back problem and this time around it is his hip, although he will be hoping that it is only a minor problem.
