England announce starting XV for Barbarians fixture

England have announced their starting fifteen for the upcoming match against the Barbarians at Twickenham on Sunday.

Head coach Eddie Jones revealed the lineup, which features four uncapped players, on Friday afternoon.

Wasps back Elliot Daly will line up at full-back, as Mike Brown moves to the wing in what is a reversal of roles for the speedy duo.

George Ford and Chris Robshaw have been named co-captains for the game.

Mercurial fly-half Danny Cipriani is named amongst the replacements for the encounter that will not see caps handed out to participants.

Players will be attempting to impress Jones ahead of the upcoming tour to South Africa, where the games will hold considerably more credence.

The Barbarians’ team will feature snubbed winger Chris Ashton, who broke the single-season try record this year in the French Top 14 league, playing for Toulouse.

Speaking at a press conference, Jones said:

This is a good young squad and their work ethic has been outstanding over the last two weeks,

It is a great opportunity for them to show they deserve to wear the English rose, to show they can be in contention for the World Cup and a great opportunity for them to put us on the front foot ahead of the South Africa tour.

England XV to face the Barbarians:

Elliot Daly (Wasps); Jonny May (Leicester), Henry Trinder (Gloucester), Piers Francis (Northampton), Mike Brown (Harlequins); George Ford (Leicester), Ben Youngs (Leicester); Joe Marler (Harlequins), Jack Singleton (Worcester), Kyle Sinckler (Harlequins), Elliott Stooke (Bath), Joe Launchbury (Wasps), Chris Robshaw (Harlequins), Tom Curry (Sale), Zach Mercer (Bath)
