The Worcester Warriors man is eager to impress England head coach Eddie Jones before the summer in an attempt to be picked in the squad that will return to the country of his birth.

When speaking about a potential England call-up, Schonert said:

It would be absolutely massive for me. I never dreamed it would happen but I would love it. There hasn’t been a minute that has gone by where it hasn’t been in my thoughts.

I think about it most days so if it happened I would give everything. But there are so many good players in the Premiership right now so I want to stay humble and focused.

Jones previously selected Schonert in the squad when they went up against Argentina last season, however, he was forced to withdraw after suffering an injury and therefore, he missed the chance to gain his first senior England cap.

Despite the injury, Schonert looks back on the experience in a positive way and claims that training with such high-quality players made taught him many good things.

Schonert has his fingers crossed that Jones has faith in his once again this season to select him for the tour.
