Dodson will remain at the top of the Scottish Rugby until after the Rugby World Cup in 2023 in France.
Dodson said:
I was delighted to accept the Board’s offer to lead Scottish Rugby through to the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
I think we have made good progress in recent years and I am excited by the challenges that remain ahead.
It was, for me, the right decision to stay on and continue to develop this outstanding organisation. I am fortunate to lead an incredibly talented workforce who are hugely committed to developing rugby at all levels of the game.
Rugby has grown massively in Scotland over the last few years, at an international and professional level and much of the success can be brought back to the efforts of Dodson.
Scotland is currently fifth in the world rankings and also defeated England for the first time in a decade at this year’s Six Nations.
The team’s performances in the tournament were encouraging and it looks like the team is only getting stronger and stronger.
As well as success on the field at all levels, there has also been plenty of success of it. The Scottish Rugby turnover is at £51.4m, which is a new record.
Dodson has ensured that there is adequate funding going towards the youth levels of rugby in Scotland with increased direct funding to grassroots clubs.
