A reportmade by the Professional Rugby Injury Surveillance Project has suggested that injuries in the game are increasing in both frequency, and severity.
With concussion the most common injury, it’s also worth noting that 47% of injuries were related to tackling.
There have been calls for a wide range of prevention to tactics to be employed, in addition to closer liaison with English rugby and World Rugby, to review laws surrounding tackling.

There has also been a report commissioned into referee decision-making, technical changes to tackling, and what the ideal training and match workloads should be.
This follows a Six Nations campaign that was played under a shadow of many notable omissions through injury, and it seems that rugby’s governing bodies will have to come together to discuss how they can reduce the number of ailments being suffered.
The report also suggests that World Rugby’s rule alterations surrounding high tackling have had no significant change on injuries in the English game.
