Jacob Stockdale voted Six Nations Player of the Championship

Ireland winger Jacob Stockdale has been voted the Six Nations Player of the Championship, with three of his Ireland teammates completing the top four, the Independent report.

The Ulster star, 21, scored a record seven tries in the 2018 tournament, which saw the Irish complete their third ever Grand Slam and first since 2009.

It was an all Irish top four, with scrum-half Conor Murray named runner-up and fly-half Johnny Sexton and winger Keith Earls named third and fourth respectively.

Italy full-back Matteo Minozzi and Guilhem Guirado of France rounded off the top six, where over 78,000 votes were cast.

Stockdale scored twice in the victories over Italy, Wales and Scotland and managed to break the record by scoring his seventh in the Grand Slam clinching win over England at Twickenham.

The Ulster star enjoyed a sensational debut tournament and despite playing all but six minutes of Ireland’s historic Grand Slam campaign, the winger is set to go straight back into action for his club against Cardiff this weekend.
