Irish fly-half and Six Nations champion Johnny Sexton has conceded he lost his winners’ medal in the immediate aftermath of the trophy presentation at Twickenham on Saturday.
After defeating England 24-15 to complete the Grand Slam, the Ireland team were enjoying the revelry that would succeed such an achievement, when Sexton realised he’d misplaced a rather important piece of hardware.
The Leinster back was caught on camera in his moment of realisation that the medallion had become detached from the lanyard.

Sexton said of his mishap:
I found it. Myself and Jordi Muphy were walking around the pitch and I said to him, ‘Mate, you lost your medal’ and he goes, ‘Oh… I think you have too’. Same type of personalities me and Jordi.
There was one medal on the ground and we couldn’t figure out whose it was. He gave that one to me and I’m not sure if he found his one.
We’ll get a replacement I’m sure. It was probably yanked off one of us when we were in the crowd with our families.
