Former French flanker Besten describes Jones’ England selection as ‘funny and amazing’

Former French flanker Serge Betsen has described the decision by Eddie Jones to pick the same back row that faced Scotland when they meet France as ‘funny and amazing’, the BBC report.

Head coach Jones has decided to stick with Courtney Lawes, Chris Robshaw and Nathan Hughes for the trip to the Stade de France in Paris on Saturday, something Betsen believes will only suit the French.

England conceded nine turnovers at the breakdown during their 25-13 shock defeat to Scotland in their previous Six Nations outing.

It’s really funny Jones has challenged the back row to beat France with that style of play. It’s a handicap for them in that aspect of the game.

Betsen, who won 63 caps for France between 1997 and 2007, believes that the French have a real chance of ending England’s hopes of a third Six Nations title in as many years when they meet on Saturday afternoon.

England need to at least match Ireland’s result to make sure that the Six Nations title will be decided on the final weekend of action.
