Aviva Premiership team Bath Rugby have announced that Todd Blackadder will be their new director of rugby and Tabai Matson will take over as head coach.
Mike Ford was sacked from his position as head coach by Bath in May earlier this year after a poor 2015/16 campaign led to them finishing ninth in the table.
Blackadder coached Super Rugby side Crusaders for seven years, with a stint which started back in 2009.
The new Bath coach captained New Zealand in his playing days and expressed his ambition to coach an English team, “Bath are an ambitious club, with very talented players, and a clear vision of where they want to be.”
Blackadder also has experience with coaching, being a part of the Scotland coaching staff.
Tabai and I are really excited to be part of that and to develop it further over the coming seasons. They play attacking rugby and have a clear vision of where they want to be. Tabai and I are really excited to be part of that and to develop it further over the coming seasons.
Blackadder will be aiming to take Bath back to the playoffs, but it might prove to be another difficult campaign with every other team in the league bulking themselves up.
