Ben John insists Ospreys must win at Judgement Day

Judgement Day IV is now within sight, and ahead of Ospreys’ massive game against Cardiff Blues, we caught up with versatile Ospreys back, Ben John.

Going into such a definitive game against Danny Wilson’s side, John claims if Ospreys are to have any chance at getting into the top six, a win against the Blues is vital.

It’s going to be a tough game, they’ve been playing well in the last couple of weeks as well, so if we want any chance of getting in that top six, we need the win.

With the 74,000 capacity Principality Stadium nearly sold out for Judgement Day, John insists that his side won’t crumble under the pressure.

We’ve got a lot of Welsh boys that are used to playing in front of 70,000 people. But when you’re on the pitch you try not to take notice of anything around you, and just focus on the job ahead. Focus, and that’ll keep you confident to block out all of the outside things.

When asked if a victory against the Blues would change the whole atmosphere surrounding what is seen as a disappointing campaign in the Guinness Pro12 for the Ospreys, John agreed, and claims that five points from Saturday’s game could put them in very good stead.

Yeah it will. If we have a good win on Saturday, if we get the five points that we’re going to try to look for, it’ll lead us into the Ulster game and we’ll have to see what happens then. If the luck is with us, we could be in a better position than we are now.

It’ll surely be an enticing spectacle in Cardiff tomorrow, with a result for Ospreys or the Blues incredibly important for the top six race.
