Italy vs Scotland is often a fixture that decides who finished fifth and sixth in the tournament, which would therefore point towards a rather dull match between two sides desperate to finish the campaign with a victory to their name. However, these two teams rarely play out a dull game, with plenty of excitement, last-minute drama and tries a-plenty.

Both Scotland and Italy leak the most points throughout the championship so when they meet, you can be sure of a high scoring affair.
Italy joined the Five Nations as it were before it became Six, in 2000 and this fixture against the Scots is the one which they look forward to the most. For the Azzuri, this is there ‘final’ and more often than not in recent years, they have been victorious.

Italy have beaten Scotland seven times in the Six Nations, five of which have come in Rome. Scotland have beaten Italy only four times in the Italian capital.
Scotland are currently enduring a nine match Six Nations losing streak, their last win coming against Italy in 2014, with a last-minute drop goal from Duncan Weir edging the win.
However, Scotland are enjoying a good run against Italy in all competitions, winning five of the last six against them. Scotland will be looking to avenge last seasons 19-22 defeat at Murrayfield and will be desperate to end their dismal losing run.
