Wales head coach Warren Gatland has elected to recall Cardiff Blues winger Alex Cuthbert for Friday night’s RBS Six Nations game against France at the expense of club teammate Tom James.
And another boost has come in the form of Jonathan Davies, who has been passed fit to play after managing to recover from a hip injury sustained against Scotland.
Dan Lydiate has also been recalled in place of Justin Tipuric whilst lock Bradley Davies steps in to cover for the injured Luke Charteris.

As reported by the BBC, only one change was enforced due to injury as Gatland looks to the trusted back row trio of Lydiate, Sam Warburton and Taulupe Faletau whilst Cuthbert’s return to the squad sees James dropped from the 23-man matchday squad.
Speaking ahead of a highly anticipated match against an undefeated France in this year’s tournament, Gatland said:
We initially thought we would have to wait until later in the week to have a final update on injuries.
But we know where we are earlier than expected and have told the squad, hence announcing today as well.
It’s set to be another huge Six Nations weekend. France come to Cardiff unbeaten in the campaign so far and impressing under Guy (Noves).
We are looking to continue our unbeaten run and will be looking for another step up after the victory over Scotland.
The decision to recall Cuthbert has been a hotly debated topic this week as his recent form in a Welsh shirt has left few impressed following his poor performances at last year’s Rugby World Cup that left fans calling for the head of the Blues winger.

However, Gatland is apparently looking to reinstall confidence in the former British and Irish Lion after James’ return to the national team after a six-year absence was less than electrifying.
