Wales sweat over Davies & Charteris injuries

Wales coach Warren Gatland is sweating over the fitness of duo Jonathan Davies and Luke Charteris, with the two Welshman picking up knocks which rule them out of Top 14 action this weekend.

Davies and Charteris were both released from the Wales camp in the week, with Gatland allowing them to return to their respective French clubs to play on Saturday. However, both players have now been ruled out of action with injuries.

Davies has been ruled out of Clermont’s game against Castres with a groin injury, which will surely worry Gatland as he tries to mount a push for the Six Nations title – with Davies firmly as his first choice outside-centre.

Charteris has also been side-lined for Racing’s clash with Grenoble with a bruised knee. Although, the good news for all concerned is that the lock is likely to recover for Wales’ Six Nations game against France on Friday 26th February.

Another Welsh lock that is playing this weekend is Bradley Davies who’ll play for Wasps against Bath – who’ll have Rhys Priestland and Dominic Day in their squad. Gatland will be a nervous wreck watching that game, surely…
