Wasps secure Cipriani return

Aviva Premiership side, Wasps, have confirmed that Sale Sharks fly-half, Danny Cipriani, will re-join the Coventry based side at the beginning of next season.

The English star has signed a two-year deal estimated to be worth at around £300,000. It’s also believed that the fly-half rejected offers from Harlequins and, reigning European champions, Toulon.

Cipriani has a year left on his Sharks contract but it’s suggested that a break clause was broken in the contract.

The Sale star joined the team back in 2013; Cipriani has exclaimed how he is excited ahead of re-joining Wasps, saying:

I’m excited about returning to Wasps next season. For me, it really does feel like coming home. In the professional era, players naturally move clubs more frequently than they used to, but I still feel such a strong connection with Wasps. It’s where I learned my trade, alongside incredible players like Lawrence Dallaglio, Joe Worsley, Alex King, Fraser Waters, Josh Lewsey and Paul Sackey.

Cipriani missed out on a spot in Stuart Lancaster’s World Cup squad but is eager to impress the new coach, Eddie Jones.

Although not being able to get into the England coach’s squad, Cipriani was expected to join European legends Toulon.

Wasps will be eager to make the most out of their new signing, the transfer adding to the team’s good news after a thrashing of league leaders Saracens; Wasps beat the reigning Premiership champions 23-64.

Wasps have climbed up to fourth in the table as Dai Young hunts for a long waited play-off finish.
