Elliott Stooke has decided that it is time to move on to new surroundings at the end of the season as he will put an end to his time at Gloucester and move across to bitter rivals, Bath.
The 22-year-old has struggled for game time recently since his breakthrough season of 2013/14 where he made 30 appearances – featuring only 36 times since. This is because Stooke has fallen back down the pecking order to sit behind the likes of Tom Savage, Jeremy Thrush and Mariano Galarza at the Kingsholm Stadium.
Bath were not alone in their attempts to sign the former England Saxons lock forward, but Mike Ford helped secure the youngster even though the number of class locks at the Rec is just as high and he will face just as great a challenge.
Bath currently have Dave Attwood, Stuart Hooper, Charlie Ewels, Matt Garvey and Will Spencer. Although Dominic Day will be leaving Bath at the end of the season, Welsh giant Luke Charteris will also be arriving from Racing 92 at the end of the season.
Stooke will hope that he can make an impact upon arrival at Bath because he will need to perform well if he wants to be gathering regular game time in the Aviva Premiership and knock the big men out of the team.
