Saracens further strengthen with two super signings

Saracens have today announced two further signings to bolster their already impressive squad next season after completing the signing of Schalk Burger last week.

Firstly the London club announced that 22-year-old fly-half, Alex Lozowski will be joining the club next season. He has been brought to the club as a replacement for Charlie Hodgson, who will be hanging up his boots at the end of the season to take up another role at the club in helping to spot some of the younger talents around.

Lozowski is currently playing his rugby as third choice fly-half for Wasps, and he has also appeared for Yorkshire Carnegie. He has made 21 appearances for his current club in a three-season spell.

I’m very excited to be joining up with Saracens and believe that my ambitions as a player match those of the club. Saracens already have an outstanding squad of players, which includes a core of exciting young English talent.

The environment and coaching match the quality of the squad, so it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. I’m looking forward to developing my game and testing myself alongside some of the best players in the country.

Saracens director of rugby, Mark McCall added:

We are delighted to bring Alex to the club next season. He is a very exciting player who we believe will add a lot to our squad.

He is another young English player we can add to a squad that already has plenty of home-grown talent, and we are looking forward to seeing Alex develop both on and off the pitch.

The second signing that the club made today was Savenaca Rawaca. Rawaca is currently part of the Fijian sevens team that are one of the best in the business.

The 6’2” and 16st5lbs flying Fijian can play at either wing or centre and has signed a multi-year contract with the north London Club. Rawaca has scored 10 tries for his country on this season’s sevens circuit and was a try scorer in the HSBC sevens final against South Africa.

Mark McCall told the Saracens media:

Save is an exciting player and at 24-years old he still has a huge amount of potential. I’m sure his physical type of game will flourish in both the Aviva Premiership and European rugby.

Speaking of the move himself, Rawaca said:

I’m really excited and happy for this opportunity. It’s a huge club that I want to play as well as I can for.

Once my commitments with Fiji sevens finish after the Olympic Games my focus will be totally on XVs and Saracens. I intend on taking this opportunity with both hands and joining an amazing club with world class players and coaches.
