Jake Ball side-lined for Six Nations

Wales and Scarlets lock Jake Ball is set to miss out on the 2016 Six Nations campaign.

The 24-year-old injured his knee during Scarlets’ agonising 27-26 Boxing Day defeat to Ospreys. His troublesome knee now may have to have surgery too.

“He’s got a bit of a tear and he’ll see a consultant to get an accurate view,” said Scarlets head coach Wayne Pivac to the BBC.

“With any luck, it’s just a rehab job.”

Ball has been instrumental for Scarlets this season, helping the Llanelli side to a exceptional Pro12 campaign, topping the table with eight wins in ten games.

However, Wales will now be likely to be without Ball for their upcoming Six Nations tournament. They start with a visit to the Aviva Stadium to play Ireland, and finish with a home visit of Italy on 19th March.

This comes as a big shame for Wales as the big second-rower, when fit, is a huge asset for Warren Gatland.
