Former England international fly-half Andy Goode has come out of retirement in favour of a return to Aviva Premiership rugby with Newcastle Falcons.
Goode, 35, retired in September due to injury problems whilst playing for Wasps, but three months away from rugby proved to be long enough for the former Leicester Tigers fan favourite.
The accurate goal kicker, who can also play at full-back has 17 England caps and has played over 300 times in the Premiership for Leicester Tigers, Saracens, Worcester Warriors and Wasps. He now gets to add Newcastle Falcons to his list.
Falcons have also signed scrum-half Justin Booth, 21, on a three-month deal from New Zealand side Manawatu Turbos.
“We’re delighted to welcome Andy and Jamie to Kingston Park, although there is obviously disappointment that they come through injuries to Mike and Ruki,” said Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards to the BBC.
“With those two unavailable to us for the immediate future, the opportunity to bring in additional players of the quality of Andy and Jamie, to supplement what we already have here, was a great opportunity.”
Goode and Booth are both likely to feature for Falcons against Bath Rugby on Saturday 2nd January.
Newcastle Falcons are curently struggling in the Premiership, sitting rock-bottom with just two points due to their 15-15 draw with Sale Sharks in November.
