Welsh international centre, Jamie Roberts has expressed his delight after a very successful debut for Harlequins.
The Quins faced Italian side Calvisano on Saturday in the Challenge Cup, and won very convincingly with a 57-7 score-line in the English side’s favour. Roberts scored a try on his first outing for the Premiership outfit.
Speaking to EPCRugby, Roberts said, “I was pretty excited to get out there for my first game for Harlequins. It’s been a long time coming, I signed for Quins at the start of the year and I finally got the chance to wear the quarters at the Stoop in front of a good crowd.
“It was cool to get back into Europe and play with this good bunch of boys, the first week has been amazing and hopefully I’ve put my hand up for selection next week, it will be a huge match at Twickenham.”
“We’ve got Christmas day off, we train on Christmas eve and boxing day, the schedule is pretty hectic. I’ll head back to Cardiff to see the family over Christmas and then I’ll be raring to go next weekend.”
Harlequins have all but qualified for the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup, winning four out their four games in Pool 3. Roberts is now hoping to help Conor O’Shea’s men in the search for some silverware this season.
Quins face Gloucester at the Twickenham Stoop on Sunday as the Aviva Premiership returns to action.
