Saracens coach offered England role

Saracens have confirmed that their defensive coach Paul Gustard has been offered an assistant manager role by England, at that he is currently mulling over the offer.

Eddie Jones decided to remove Andy Farrell, Graham Rowntree and Mike Catt from the roles that they had under previous Head Coach Stuart Lancaster, and he has offered Gustard the chance to be part of his new coaching set up.

The 39-year-old has built up a reputation as a young, exciting coach and his Saracens defence is arguably the best in the country. It is with his influence that Saracens have gone unbeaten this season.

It was Jones who brought Gustard into coaching in 2009 and with time working against the new Head Coach, it is little surprise that the Australian is looking to recruit people he has worked with in the past.

Steve Borthwick, who worked with Jones with Japan at the recent World Cup is also expected to join the England set up.
