Phillipe Saint-Andre axed as French head coach

Reports from France indicate that head coach Philipe Saint-Andre has been sacked as head coach of Les Blues, following a revolt from the players.

It is believed that the players became tired of his ‘lack of charisma’ and ahead of a clash with world champions New Zealand, the players are coaching themselves!

The former Sale Sharks coach took up the role after the 2011 World Cup. He has coached the team for 44 matches, winning 20 of them.

He has led his team to the quarter-finals in this years World Cup, winning four out of five of their group matches, finishing second in their group. This result led them to be drawn against the All Blacks in the quarter finals.

During his playing career, he achieved 69 caps for France, scoring over 150 points for his country. His domestic career included a spell with English club Gloucester, where he made 37 appearances during his two years with the team in a playing capacity
