Leinster sign All Black

Leinster Rugby have officially announced the signing of lock Hayden Triggs on a deal that will last until the end of the season.

The 33-year-old New Zealander has been granted a work permit and will join his new team on Wednesday.

He is a veteran of Super Rugby having played games for the Hurricanes, the Highlanders, the Chiefs and the Blues. He has also been capped nine times by the Maori All Blacks.

The arrival of Triggs comes at a good time for Leinster as Mick Kearney has had surgery on a toe injury that will keep him out until February 2016. They have also lost a number of players to the Rugby World Cup, so numbers are somewhat thin on the ground.

Leinster Rugby Head Coach Leo Cullen is looking forward to having Triggs join his team, and says his experience will be a key asset for his side:

Hayden brings a wealth of experience to the squad at a time when we have a large chunk of our squad away at the Rugby World Cup. We look forward to welcoming him into the group in the next day or so.
