Saracens and several French clubs are in fierce competition to lure Springboks and Sharks fly-half, Jordan Hendrikse. The news has been shared by Neil Fissler of Rugby Pass and the 25-year-old could be seen as a long-term successor to Owen Farrell in the Saracens number 10 jersey. According to Fissler, Lyon, Stade Francais and Montpellier are some of the French teams interested in getting his signature.
Hendrikse: a true South African talent
Jordan Hendrikse is the younger brother of Jaden, a fellow Springbok and Sharks player, where the paid can be found on occasion playing in a half-back partnership together. The out-half came through as a professional at the Lions and made the shift to Durban for the Sharks in 2024. He scored a 59-metre penalty in the final moments of the 2024 Currie Cup final to win it for the Sharks.
It was in 2024 that he also picked up two Springboks caps for his performances in that campaign.
Hendrikse made his first appearance of the season against Lyon in the Champions Cup and his coach, JP Pietersen commented, “It’s good to have Jordan back. He struggled with a hammy, but he looks in good nick now, the body is all good, and he’s part of an exciting backline.”

Fissler also added that, “Hendrikse’s CV has also drawn interest from Stade Français and Montpellier, who have asked for updates on his career plans.”
Where could he fit for Saracens?
Saracens have a thin and aging number 10 problem. Owen Farrell and Fergus Burke have been the two choices backed so far this year and with Farrell now at 36, the North London club will be looking towards the future.
Hendrikse could be exactly that. He is 25 and with his name going further down the Springboks pecking order, Sarries will not have to worry about the strange international schedule of the Southern Hemisphere.
