The Energia All-Ireland League has its 2026/27 launchpad, and the fixture list carries more than routine calendar value for Irish club rugby.
The IRFU confirmed on 30 June that the new season’s fixtures are now live, with revised men’s and women’s structures designed to sharpen competition across the league. The clearest pressure point comes in the men’s game, where Division 2B now splits into North and South conferences.
New Structure Puts Travel Pressure In Focus
That change is not cosmetic. The IRFU says the regional model is intended to reduce travel distances, cut overnight stays and lower financial costs, while also improving player welfare after feedback from the rugby community.
In Division 1A, newly crowned champions St Mary’s College will open away to Lansdowne. Clontarf, beaten finalists last season, host newly promoted Old Wesley in an immediate Dublin derby.
The women’s competition also moves into a new two-tier shape, with 12 teams split across two divisions and a cross-division Cup added. UL Bohemian begin their three-in-a-row title defence away to Railway Union in a repeat of last season’s final.

Enniskillen are one of the early calendar winners. Their men’s and women’s sides both earned promotion, and the club will stage an October double-header when the men face Navan and the women host Tullow.
For a league built on local identity, the 2026/27 schedule now gives clubs a cleaner commercial and performance runway. The title races matter, but the structural test may matter more.
