Hurricanes vs Brumbies Super Rugby Pacific preview as the sides meet at the One NZ Stadium as part of the Super Round.

While there is no official home team in this game, it was prescribed to be the Hurricanes’ home fixture. They currently sit second in the table, level on points with the Chiefs after they lost to the Chiefs last week, although they have played one less game than the other teams in the top four. They have won six matches and picked up a huge seven bonus points.

The Brumbies currently sit in fourth place, sitting six points behind their opponents. They would be able to catch the Blues in third ahead of them, but could also be caught by the Reds and Crusaders behind them.

The Hurricanes had won five games in a row when they went to face the Chiefs. The Canes were leading 12-3 at halftime, having scored early and late in the first half. With 10 minutes to go, the Hurricanes were leading with the ball in the Chiefs’ half. They lost the ball, and the Chiefs countered, and a tremendous offload allowed them to bring the score back level. McKenzie had a kick to win the game, but it came up short, and they went to extra time. In extra time, the Chiefs went for a drop-goal, but even with a charge down, the Chiefs collected the ball, and Sititi scored the winning points.

The Brumbies suffered a shock home defeat to the Fijian Drua in the last round, continuing their run of alternating wins and losses. They scored early against the Drua but conceded three tries in the first half to be down 22-7 at halftime. Two of the tries were self-inflicted, allowing an intercept try and letting Fines-Leleiwasa to tap-and-go towards the line. Despite a second-half comeback, the Drua controlled the scoreboard well to win by five.
