Rugby News Today: Lawes on Northampton snub, Caluori on fire and more

Rugby News Today after a busy weekend of club action in the URC, Prem and Top 14. This will break down the big stories in the game into a digestible piece each day.

Courtney Lawes reveals lack of Saints offer

Lawes revealed on the For Love of Rugby Podcast with Dan Cole and Ben Young that he had not received an offer to return to the Northampton Saints when he leaves Brive in France at the end of the year.

The 107 capper for England will join Sale Sharks at the end of the year, after his two-year spell in France is up.

He also revealed in the podcast that he would be happy to play at the World Cup. He did say, though, he would only accept a call-up if he felt like he was in the squad to make the matchday 23. He let Youngs know that he wouldn’t be interested in joining the squad in a mentorship-style role, despite being one of only nine players to ever get 100 caps for England.

Caluori stars for Saracens against Sale

Noah Caluori, the 19-year-old winger for Saracens, was the star of the show as they hammered the Sale Sharks 85-19. The youngster scored five tries in the game and showed the full repertoire of skills that a winger needs in attack. He scored an intercept try and a try which showed incredible athleticism as he dived over the defenders in the corner.

After his first try, the winger emulated the celebration that Henry Pollock had done after scoring the day before for the Northampton Saints.

As Caluori continues to build his brand, he will be able to learn and develop based on the work that Pollock is putting in before him in that space.

Kildunne given prestigious London Marathon role

Ellie Kildiunne has revealed that she is ‘honoured’ to be one of the official starters of the 2026 London Marathon. She will join Sir Mo Farah on the starting line on Sunday, 26th April 2026. Kildunne will face Wales in the Women’s Six Nations at Ashton Gate the day before the marathon as England look to extend their lead at the top of the Six Nations. Kildunne scored twice against Scotland to reach 50 England tries at just 26 years old.
