National nicknames in rugby are more common than in most other sports. The All Blacks are the more common name for the New Zealand men’s national team.

Nicknames are more common in the women’s game, with eight of the top 10 sides having a recognised nickname.

France and Scotland are those nations without a nickname.

Some of those nations have their name derived as a female version of the men’s team. This is for nations such as South Africa and the USA.

The most recognisable nicknames in Women’s Rugby are the Red Roses of England, the Wallaroos of Australia and the Black Ferns of New Zealand.
