France vs Italy Women’s Six Nations in the opening game of the tournament. The teams will meet at the Stade des Alpes, the home of Pro D2 side Grenoble. 

France finished second in last year’s Six Nations, winning four of their five games and only losing to England. They then went on to finish fourth in the World Cup, losing to England in the semi-final. 

Italy finished third in their group at the 2025 World Cup, winning one of their three games with a 64-3 win over Brazil. They finished fourth in last year’s Six Nations, picking up two wins over Scotland and Wales.

France have only lost to New Zealand, England and Canada since 2023. In each of the last three Six Nations, they have only lost against England. England also beat them in the World Cup semi-final, 35-17. Their most recent game was in the third-place playoff, where they lost 42-26 to the Black Ferns. They started this game poorly, going 39-7 behind, but scored three tries late in the match. 

Italy (Away team): W-L-L-W-L

Italy felt in a strong position at the end of the Six Nations last year, having picked up victories over Wales and Scotland. They then went into the World Cup and lost their two opening games against France and conceded with five minutes to go against South Africa. Their last group game and most recent match saw them score 12 tries against Brazil.

France have had dominance in this fixture in recent years, winning each meeting since 2019. This game is also particularly interesting as the teams have met in each of the last two World Cups. France won comfortably 24-0 in the World Cup, but had to come from 21-12 behind at halftime to win in the Six Nations last year, 34-21.
