The Reds had been in fantastic form after losing their opening game. They had won four matches in a row, including wins in their two home matches. In the last round, they played the league-leading Hurricanes. The match finished 52-14, but the game seemed a lot closer at halftime with only 10 points in it. The Hurricanes stepped it up, scoring four more tries without conceding in the second half.

Western Force (Away team): L-L-L-W-L

The Western Force picked up their only win of the season against bottom-place Moana Pasifika. They have lost three in a row, but all three losses have been by between eight and 10 points. In the last round, they lost 24-14 to the Chiefs. The score bounced back and forth with the Chiefs taking the lead three times, but the Force were only able to bring it back level twice.
