No action to be taken over Murrayfield tunnel scuffle

Six Nations Rugby has revealed that no disciplinary action will be taken against England or Scotland for the tunnel incident prior to their match at Murrayfield last weekend, according to a report on the Irish Times.

Both teams were asked to submit their own versions of the incident after it was caught on camera as both sides were going back to the dressing rooms after completing their warm-ups.

England centre Owen Farrell was at the centre of the clash as he dashed through the Scotland players and pushed Ryan Wilson to the side, who reacted angrily.

The Six Nations Rugby released a statement which said:

Six Nations Rugby gathered material from the RFU (Rugby Football Union) and SRU (Scottish Rugby Union), as well as from the BBC and the match officials. It also considered footage of the incident.

It concluded that there was some evidence of pushing and shoving in the tunnel at the relevant time but no clear evidence of violent conduct or similar against any individual player. No further disciplinary action will be taken.

Six Nations Rugby will also remind all unions of their and their players’ obligations.

Scotland went on to record a famous victory over England, which is their first over their bitter rivals in ten years.
