Hurricanes vs Blues Super Rugby preview as the sides meet in the Super Rugby Pacific semi-final at Hnry Stadium.

The Hurricanes were top of the table in the regular season and defeated the Brumbies in the qualifying final. 

The Blues finished fourth overall in the table and lost their game against the Crusaders in the qualifying final, but progressed as the highest-ranked loser in the qualifying finals.

The Hurricanes only lost three of their 14 regular-season games, one of which came in their final game, where they had already guaranteed the top spot. In the first playoff round, they welcomed the Brumbies and won the game comfortably, 66-12. The Canes shot out to a 31-0 lead in just over 30 minutes. Another four tries in the second half set them up for an incredible victory.

The Blues have had a tough end to the season with four losses in a row before this semi-final. They have conceded more than 45 points in each of the last three games, but have been able to score more than 30 in the last two. The Blues made this game as the best-ranked losers in the qualifying finals. They lost out by 21 points, conceding eight tries, while scoring five. After 50 minutes, they had conceded six and were sitting 40-14 behind. The Blues then scored three in the last half hour, only conceding two.
