Chiefs player cited for kick on Launchbury

Will Chudley, the scrum-half for the Exeter Chiefs has been cited for an apparent kick on Wasps lock Joe Launchbury in Exeter’s Premiership semi-final win on Saturday.

Chudley, 28, will appear before a disciplinary panel from the Rugby Football Union tomorrow, and will hope to avoid missing Exeter’s final at Twickenham on Sunday.

Exeter ensured a spot at the Twickenham final with a 34-23 win over the Wasps, and will face Saracens on May 29th.

This incident could lead to Will Chudley missing Exeter’s first ever Premiership final. Chudley has played a part in every game that the Exeter Chiefs have played this season, and it may be vital for him to be available to play against the Saracens.

Chudley was named the man of the match in the win, however after seeing evidence of the alleged kick, officials from the RFU took action.

The incident occured when Chudley tried to dislodge the ball from a ruck, and his boot appeared to catch the head of Launchbury in the second half of the game.
