Saracens hooker joins Exiles

London Irish have announced the signing of Saracens hooker David Porecki on a two-year deal ahead of the 2016/17 season.

The English-qualified hooker will bolster an exiles front row with a plethora of experience for such a young player after enjoying spells in Super Rugby with the New South Wales Waratahs as well as spending time with Premiership champions Saracens.

Porecki has found opportunities scarce at Saracens with names such as Schalk Brits and Jamie George ahead of him in the pecking order.

The 23-year-old featured against London Irish at the Red Bull Arena in the Aviva Premiership last month after being brought in last summer as World Cup cover and was seemingly impressed with the ambition that the Reading-based outfit are showing:

I was very impressed with the set-up at Hazelwood and the ambition they have to get back to being one of the top teams in the country.

There seems to be a huge amount of potential at London Irish, and I hope to help the Club fulfil that potential over the coming seasons

Head of Rugby Operations Glenn Delaney said:

We have been tracking David for a while now and have been very impressed by what we have seen. He will add further depth to our forward pack and provide us with a solid option in what we know will be another attritional season.

Saracens currently sit top of the Aviva Premiership following their dominant victory over title rivals Exter Chiefs. London Irish, on the other hand, sit rock bottom.
