Bath were unable to replicate last week’s heroics against Wasps in the European Champions’ Cup and as such came away from this weekend suffering a heavy loss. Wasps for their part were clinical and professional and made up for last week’s last-gasp loss to Bath.
Bath opened the scoring after 10 minutes with Kyle Eastmond finding Semesa Rokodoguni with a fantastic flat pass, who then flew over the line to secure the first try of the game. Last week’s hero George Ford slotted the conversion to give Bath a seven-point lead.
Wasps immediately came back through Jimmy Gopperth who calmly kicked a penalty after Bath were caught out in their own 22.
Following this, Bath misplaced a pass, resulting in a loose ball which Elliot Daly of Wasps capitalised on. He raced down the pitch and scored. Gopperth slotted the conversion to make the score 7-10.
Not long after, Bath were again penalised, this time right in front of the posts, which made Gopperth’s job very easy as he successfully kicked another penalty to give Wasps a six-point lead.
From there, Wasps ran riot with Gopperth the spearhead as he slotted yet another penalty and converting his own try to give Wasps a wide birth of Bath going into half-time.
Half-time: Bath 7-23 London Wasps

From the outset, Wasps picked up from where they left off in the first-half, as only the stern defence from Bath kept the Wasps at bay.
The Bath pack worked hard in the second-half and earned Mike Ford’s side a penalty which George Ford cooly slotted to bring them a step closer to Wasps.
However, Bath’s success was short-lived as Gopperth replied with yet another penalty after Bath were picked up for poor discipline at the ruck. From here, Daly added a drop-goal and Rokodoguni received a yellow card to make Bath’s position even more difficult.
With only six minutes left on the clock, Wasps ran in yet another try through Alapati Leiua and once more, Jimmy Gopperth converted to round off yet another bitterly disappointing result for last season’s Aviva Premiership runners-up.
Full-time: Bath 10-36 London Wasps
