Rugby World Cup 2015: Team of the tournament

The Rugby World Cup came to a thrilling conclusion on Saturday as New Zealand beat rivals Australia at Twickenham to claim a record third Webb Ellis Cup and become the first to win consecutive tournaments.

And as the All Blacks class of 2015 enter the history books as arguably the greatest team to ever hit a ruck in anger, England 2015 must go down as the finest edition of the tournament held to date.

With the organisation near-impeccable, it fell to the teams to deliver and they did not disappoint.

Tier two nations closed the gap once more with nations such as Romania, Canada and Georgia impressing – not to mention the heroics of Japan.

While the hosts were left by the wayside early on – it’s no surprise none of Stuart Lancaster’s men make this team of the tournament – the tournament did not suffer as it went from strength to strength in the knockout stages.

And as the other home nations followed England’s lead, it was left to the Sourthern Hemisphere to show the world how it is done.

Argentina captured the imagination with a bewitching running game, while New Zealand and Australia showed the class which sets them apart in world rugby.

So much great rugby. So many great players.

But just who makes the team of the tournament?
