With three quarter-final clashes having already been adjourned and the prospect of facing Argentina in the semi-final looming for either Australia or Scotland the best game of the round was saved for last after the Wallabies edged an emphatic 35-34 victory over Scotland.
But there will be no doubt that many a Scottish heart will be broken after Vern Cotter’s side came so close to securing a victory, only for the boot of Benjamin Foley to deny them in the dying seconds.
